Easter Joy Knows No Borders

A basket full of colorfully painted eggs, the scent of spring flowers, chocolate Easter bunnies as far as the eye can see, a freshly baked Easter lamb cake, as well as time for family and friends – all of this is traditionally part of Easter celebrations in Austria.

Although Easter is celebrated worldwide, particularly in countries with a Christian tradition, Protoni and his friend Knuffel, the fluffy ambassador of Ronald McDonald Children’s Aid, came up with something very special this year: an Easter surprise for MedAustron’s youngest patients from around the world.

Last week, they visited children between two and ten years of age from Austria, Hungary, and Israel and presented them with lovingly prepared, generously filled Easter baskets. These contained not only toys and sweets, but also small snacks and colorful arts-and-crafts supplies – everything that makes children’s eyes light up.

"Care Bunny Lukas” and “Care Bunny Linda,” small plush toys from the Lower Austrian Health Agency, brought additional joy and quickly found a special place in the hearts of many children.

An Easter celebration full of warmth, clearly showing that joy, hope, and compassion know no cultural or linguistic boundaries.
