MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research center in Wiener Neustadt. The treatment method used is an innovative form of radiotherapy using protons and carbon ions. Compared to conventional radiotherapy, this is gentler on the surrounding healthy tissue.

Only at a few locations worldwide can this be carried out with both protons and carbon ions, as is the case at MedAustron.
